Thief Steals Fire Truck In Baltimore During Episode, Officials Say

One person is in custody after stealing a Baltimore fire truck during a reported behavioral health crisis.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 28, officials say that a 30-year-old man entered a fire truck and released its brake in the 4900 block of Barber Avenue, allowing it to slowly drift away temporarily.

“We need the police here, somebody just stole our truck 26,” a firefighter can be heard in a call to the authorities.

According to officials, minutes later, at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Friday morning, the truck was recovered on Barber Street and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Only minor injuries were reported, and the man was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and possible treatment. No other damage was reported.
